OUR APPROACH

FFA was founded on the belief that private capital investors have an opportunity and a duty to positively impact society and the environment. While the asset class has almost doubled in size since the founding of the firm, so has the desire from all stakeholders for investors to do more on issues of climate change, diversity and human rights.

ESG Integration Strategy

FFA develops long term strategic plans for ESG integration at the firm level. We develop responsible investment policies, ESG training sessions for investment professionals, and create processes that allow seamless integration of ESG considerations throughout the entire investment process.

Due Diligence

We work with leading private equity investors to identify ESG related risks and opportunities using best practice industry standards during the due diligence process. While each potential investment’s material topics are different, a consistent approach can be developed based on the specific economic, environmental, and social impacts of both the portfolio and firm itself.

A few of the most common material issues in private capital can include: greenhouse gas emissions, physical risks from climate change, diversity and inclusion, labor practices, supply chain management and business ethics.

Portfolio Level

Initiatives at portfolio companies range from identifying material ESG issues for the company to incorporate into its strategic planning to sourcing vendors of energy efficient technology to developing sustainability language for marketing materials. Specifically at the portfolio level, FFA has developed ESG reporting templates, identified successful sustainability nongovernmental organizations (NGO) partnerships and vetted appropriate ESG related vendors.

ESG Reporting

Private capital investors are experiencing an uptick in requests for transparency regarding both firm and portfolio level ESG performance. FFA works with investors to tailor appropriate messages in fundraising, press releases, and annual ESG reporting.
